Click here for some delicious diabetes-friendly recipes. New recipes can add variety to spice up your otherwise routine diet. Any recipe can be adapted to fit the "diabetic" diet, just remember to consider carbohydrate counts when you are looking at a dish's effect on your blood sugar. Three to four carbohydrate choices are generally appropriate for most people with diabetes. That is equal to about one cup of rice, couscous or pasta; a burrito-sized flour tortilla; three corn tortillas or a large baked potato. Remember to include legumes (dried beans) into your diet regularly for a super fiber boost.

Another great source for new and delicious recipes is the American Diabetes Association Web site. Click on "Nutrition & Recipes" for a variety of recipes and helpful nutrition information.

To speak to a Diabetes Care Team member, call 916.536.3565. Care teams are located at the Downtown and San Juan locations. The cost for each visit with a care team member is the same as the cost of a typical medical office visit.
